Three of Australia’s most awarded classical performers come together for the opening night of Play On Series Three. At the helm on piano is Australian born, Manchester trained, Tristan Lee. Internationally recognised for his distinctive style and musicianship, he has performed throughout Europe, including critically acclaimed performances at London’s Wigmore Hall.
Harold is one of the Melbourne underground’s most hard working stalwarts. He keeps himself busy as the label boss of Steeplejack Records and one of the heads behind a plethora of the best parties going on in the city. His work has seen him as a contributor to the notorious Pleasure Planet and it’s sister party Leisure Planet, as well as Club Derange and Dance Technique.
Magnetic performer and Play On favourite Kristian Winther leads the Play On Collective in two of the twentieth century’s most astonishing musical offerings. To begin, the Collective forms a quartet to journey through dreams and nightmares with Henryk Górecki’s haunting and beautiful night music Already it is Dusk.
Having recently returned to her hometown of Melbourne from Sydney, DJ and Producer Nite Fleit has quickly cultivated a distinctive sound of her own in the local scene, one that is suspended between industrial techno, acid and house, yet drifting into aesthetics she finds too difficult to categorise with words.
The closing night of Play On Series Three sees the Play On Collective come together in a mesmerising line up of artists who have performed with all the major orchestras in Australia, and many overseas. As chamber musicians they play with some of the country’s most respected ensembles including the Australian Piano Quartet and the Tinalley String Quartet.
