Drawing together the unusual and enchanting combination of viola, flute and harp, the Chrysalis Trio was formed in 2013 by three remarkable musicians who met whilst studying together at the Australian National Academy of Music – Australia’s premiere training academy for classical musicians.
In addition to their trio and individual performance commitments, the members of the Chrysalis Trio have performed with acclaimed orchestras including the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. For its Play On debut this trio plays works composed in the Twentieth-Century, including the delicate Fratres by cult Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, and Claude Debussy’s impressionistic and ethereal 1915 Sonate en Trio.
