Australian favourites ¿Club D’érange? and classical music night Play On join forces to present a merging of contemporary classical worlds and mind-bending club music for one night only at OHM Berlin. Two entities combine to upend preconceptions and create space for new ways of listening.
Roman Ćinske opens the night with an hour of ambient music before Jonathan Heilbron takes over for a set of live contemporary classical and experimental music for double bass, electronics and organ. Playing his own drone-based compositions for bontempi organ and a new work by Melbourne composer Anthony Pateras, Heilbron also presents Romanian composer and conductor Ana-Maria Avram’s dexterous and inquisitive AXE VII. Avram (1961-2017) was part of the contemporary avant-garde and a leading exponent of hyperspectralism, a movement which understood sound as a performative and mutating experience rather than static. AXE VII embodies these ideas, traversing a broad palette of sonic and textural invention over the course of 20 minutes.
Following the classical program DJs Simon TK, TEXTASY and Natalia take the listeners on a deep electronic journey through till morning.
